You Will Be Remembered, No One Will Speak Your Name

A surprising amount of people (most of whom I know, but who say nothing) read this ramble, so apologies to everyone for the lack of bloggage, or at least satisfactory ones. Honestly though, I have bigger fish to fry, and so do you, so let's get over this together.

Biffy Clyro. Who? Biffy fucking Clyro, that's who. Quite possibly the best band in Britain at the moment (except maybe for Gallows, but we'll get to that in a sec), whose next album is scheduled for release this Autumn. More importantly though, they're my favourite band in the world- music after all, is an art-form based almost exclusively on opinion. They are a band whose first three albums would make my top five of all time, no problem at all. A band whose music means more to me than just about anybody else's. And they're coming to Dublin.

And it's fucking 18's.

Words can't really express the utter fury that such a regulation provokes in me. Granted, all ages gigs suck, the crowds of these mainly composed of 13-year-olds in MCR hoodies, whose experience of moshing is confined to Green Day DVDs. Fair enough. But for fuck sake, Dublin is the only night on Biffy's tour that's 18's. Worse, it's in the Olympia, and every gig prior to Biffy's arrival- Editors, Placebo, surely no more suited to child audiences than the Biff- are all ages. Right now I would quite like to find who it was that made such a beige, cunt-ridden wank of a rule and beat the little fucker into the ground.

Fucking pish.

Anyway. To the positives since last we met.

Gallow's new record is fucking colossal. As with anything Gallows, it's not for the faint-hearted, but christ it's amazing. Hardcore punk that should really be called brutal punk or something more suited to the head-mashing noise of the thing. Here's my highlight, The Vultures (Act I and II), before Sony 'We're Fucking Wankers Ain't It Just Wonderful' WMG get a chance to take it down:



In a connection that those in the know will understand, I'm going to Bon Iver in July. In Galway. With someone I've met once and her mates. It's gonna be insane.
